Dear Visitors and Friends of Epicerie Fine,
Welcome to our first issue of La Gazette Epicurienne, that announces the launch of Epicerie Fine Web Site.
From its first
steps and until today, Epicerie Fine has certainly grown along the
way. Your visit, your support, your comments and valuable
encouragements have certainly helped us shaping Epicerie Fine and still
do.
It is now time for us to share some news which we hope will inspire you for the months to come.
The venue of
international and local cheeses has marked the beginning of another
tradition at Epicerie Fine. Cutting off the first piece from those dairy
gems, which represent a specific terroir, a particular know-how as
well as a variety of milk and breed of animal, felt like a blessing.
Sampling them at the Millburn farmers market in the form of a cheese
fondue, tasting or sharing them at the store has brought joyful memories
and excitement. Paired with a couple of Tea Together Organic Jams, some of our English crackers, Spanish organic fig cake with marcona
almonds or simply thin slices of fresh fruits in season, together they
will please all palates around a cheese platter.
Today, we
highlight some of our carefully selected cheeses in our Tartines
Gourmandes -a warm open faced sandwich. Granted, Tartines was a
way to bring back memories for both of us.
Melted cheese on a crunchy country bread is to us what the Madeleine was
to Proust. Mmm.. Que du bonheur! Something to make Proust forget about
Madeleine...
Recently, this "Madeleine feeling" came over me while tasting a chestnut cream.
To my great stupefaction, this peculiar curiosity made in Corsica
revealed that on top of being a gourmet, I was also a gourmande! In my
defense, I claim loud and clear this organic smooth and rich chestnut
cream made by Charles Antona to be absolutly "decadente"!
Some of you may find your Madeleine in the Milk or Dark chocolate
barks by Emanuel Chocolatier in Chester NJ, or in Sami's canneles - a
specialty of Bordeaux - or may be in the other delicacies that are
waiting for you at Epicerie Fine.
Be
prepared to take your time at Epicerie Fine as it shall not be lost.
For an avant-gout, follow the links on this first Gazette Epicurienne or
follow the road that will lead you to Millburn.
Wishing you an inspiring and joyful visit.
Carpe Diem,
